What To Expect
Our HazMat physicals consist of a process that is relatively similar to other medical physicals. Our physicians will review the patient’s medical history as well as their work history. We make sure to list and pay attention to any exposure to hazardous materials in the process or chart history. We also will obtain a description of the employer’s job description, citing instances where employees can be exposed to hazardous materials and the level at which they are exposed.
During the HazMat physical, the patient will be given a regular physical exam as well. It may also require:
- Blood and urine samples for testing of exposure to hazardous materials
- Auditory testing
- Spirometry testing which checks lung function
- An EKG test which checks heart function
- Chest X-rays
- Test for Hepatitis B
